👋 Hi, I'm Jon.

I'm a consultant and developer with nearly 20 years of experience in building products for the web. I primarily work with a mix of Elixir and Ruby but consider myself a polygot having written many languages across my career. Currently I'm learning Rust to tinker with embedded devices.

I've worked with a large variety of organisations, including large e-commerce, media, ed-tech, med-tech, telecoms, and various startups. I've improved performance, cleaned up code, re-architected data warehoues, designed green-field applications, scaled hardware and augmented teams to achieve their goals.

I also contribute to open source, with the most notable example being RSpec, a popular testing library for Ruby which I've been the maintainer of for 8 years and on the core team for 13 years.

I run a small consultancy, Explorative through which you can hire me for consulting, project work, remote contracting or sponsor my open source work.
